Kobe is like a human surveillance camera, always looking, always assessing. He will watch footage of players on both offense and defense, searching for tendencies, breaking down moves. He’ll study a team’s sets, try to uncover a slight edge, the smallest of advantages.

But, Kobe will also study himself on film. This is one of the differences between the warrior Kobe and everyone else.

Kobe truly believes this. Most people don’t like or want to see themselves on film, especially having to be critical of themselves. But Kobe is transparent to himself in that he almost watches himself on film like an independent observer.
